Project Description

As a new building is completed on campus, the communications department will be sending messages to all the communities who will be moving into the new facility. But they’re pretty certain that individuals will misplace the emails that will be sent, will forget the timing and schedule for various events, and come up with questions that haven’t been anticipated. They hope that a set of web pages dedicated to the schedule for moving to the building will help with the transition.

What Problem did This Prototype Solve

This prototype/wireframe collects the ideas that were generated from focus group conversations with the three most important user groups—faculty, students and staff—and presents them for continued discussion of both the merits and feasibility of the ideas. At the time this version of the prototype was captured, the project was partially built from a technical point of view, but even samples of possible content had not been provided by other involved parties. So it was kind of stalled. The prototype did however help open the discussion of some of the technical challenges the project presented.

The overall template which is to hold these pages is responsive, typically with elements on the right rail moving below the center content, so during further design, the contents of the right rail would be selected to be appropriate when viewed (or not viewed!) on tablet- and phone-size devices.
